ASR NURSERIES, a part of ASR Group was established in the year 1997, with the objective of setting up a Nursery dedicated towards breeding and multiplication of Stevia rebaudiana, the magical herb of Paraguay, commonly known as Honey leaf. MADHU PATRA is the name we have coined for this herb for the Indian market and is known as Madhu Parani in Marathi, Madhu Patri in Telgu and Seeni Tulusi in Tamil. We are proud to be India's first Nursery dedicated to the cultivation, multiplication and breeding of Stevia.

We provide quality-planting material of Stevia, which are one year old and ready for field planting. These plants are vegetatively multiplied and their performance in the field is excellent, with low field mortality. Luckily Stevia is one crop on which the infestation of pests and insects is practically nil in the test plots we have tried throughout the state of Karnataka. These findings have led to the popularization of vegtatively-multiplied plants of Stevia as compared to tissue culture. The plants are provided in polythene covers of 4x6 inches. Just open the covers and plant them in the field or in pots for your roof garden.

ASR Nurseries is also India's first commercial cultivator of this crop for the last seven years, and in the process we have standerdised the package of practices for Stevia. We share our experience on commercial cultivation of this crop on a turnkey consultancy basis for clients who buy planting material from us.

ASR's breeding activities are mainly aimed at enhancing the sweetening compounds (di-terpene compounds), altering the composition of di-terpene compounds, modifying taste and enhancing the biomass productivity of the crop. As Stevia is not an easy crop to breed due to it's poor seed set, modern breeding techniques have been employed to overcome this problem.

We also have a large collection of indoor ornamental crops, with a wide variety of Aglonemas, Diffenbachias, Philodendrons, Palms, Crotons and other common ornamentals. We sell and rent these plants.
